Average used van prices stabilise but remain high

September saw the average used van price lift to £9,902 at British Car Auctions (BCA), with steady demand generating a small month-on-month rise of £18.

Average monthly values have risen by £1,908 in the past year but has stabilised in the last four months during which time average values moved by just £246.

With more than 2,000 different online buyers continuing to compete for the best selection of used vans in the market, BCA’s daily program of online LCV sales drove average price performance of nearly 107 per cent of guide price.

Stuart Pearson, BCA COO UK said: “The LCV market remains very robust with average values hardly moving over the last 4 months.

“Supply and demand is currently really well balanced in this sector and we continue to see the best presented vans achieving some outstanding prices.

“There is a real chance that we could see values strengthen further towards the end of the year to meet the needs of the Festive trading period – particularly as the well-documented supply challenges around new vehicles continues to have an impact on the wider marketplace.

“We’re working closely with our customers to enhance our LCV cataloguing, our grading process and a number of new initiatives to support the largest registered buyer base for light commercial vehicles in the UK.”
