Whistling Pig pub at Windermere Camping and Caravanning Club site reopens

Pub at Windermere Camping and Caravanning Club site

The Whistling Pig pub on Windermere Camping and Caravanning Club Site has reopened with a new operating partner.

The Northern Monkey Brew Company, owned by Ryan Bailey and Kevin Barber, friends and colleagues from their time at Greater Manchester Fire Service, has taken over the running of the pub and launched an exciting drinks menu.

On offer to pub-goers are award-winning craft beers made at the company’s Bolton brewery including Film Club (a popcorn stout) and Boats N’ Hose (a strong citra pale ale) – the latter being named after Ryan’s time living on a boat and the pair’s ongoing work as firefighters.

Ryan said: “The Club could see we take a lot of pride in what we do, and we’re delighted to take over the running of the Whistling Pig.

“We want people to enjoy the atmosphere and support our passion for serving real ale just the way it should be.

“I was aware of the pub having stayed on site at Windermere myself previously. It is in a prime location and when I saw it was sitting empty I reached out to the Club to see how we might work together.

“This is a perfect partnership in that we can help The Camping and Caravanning Club to improve facilities for campers holidaying on site while we are able to further share our story and establish roots in the area.”

The pub is dog-friendly and located inside the grounds of the popular campsite.

Following refurbishment throughout 2022 it now boasts modern décor, comfy seating and a cosy pub garden.

Nicola Simpson, the Club’s Director of Marketing and Insight, said: “Ryan and Kevin are committed to delivering exceptional customer service and we’re thrilled to be partnering with them at the Whistling Pig.

“Windermere is pretty unique on our network for having its own pub on site. It’s always been a big draw for campers, and Ryan and Kevin bring lots of energy and enthusiasm to the running of the pub.

“I’m sure our campers will love the new décor and enjoy a nice tipple or two whenever they stay on site with us.”

Alongside an exciting drinks menu, the pub will also host quizzes and live music.

And once the kitchen has been refurbished, stone-baked pizzas, loaded fries and roasts on a Sunday will also be available.
