Sandringham Caravan and Motorhome Club site plans to add safari-style tents

A glamping “village” could soon be added to the Sandringham estate as part of an extension of its caravan site.

The Sandringham Caravan and Motorhome Club site already has 138 royal parkland pitches and wants to branch out by offering safari-style tents.

A report to the planning authority said the “experience freedom” tents would enable visitors to extend their stay.

The plan, which includes further all-weather pitches and new toilet blocks, is currently out for consultation.

Trees would be removed as part of the extension and improvements to the site, which is run by the organisation “in close consultation” with the estate.

A planning statement said at “mature occupancy”, the facility could generate an estimated £4.94m for the local economy.

The Borough Council of King’s Lynn and West Norfolk is expected to determine the application by the middle of April.
