Stephen was invited to join Bailey in 1977 by his brother Patrick, who was managing director at that time, and together they purchased the business shortly afterwards.

Stephens’ two eldest sons, first Nick and then Simon both joined the business in the 1990s and eventually took over the running of the company.

Stephen remained a company director until very recently and continued to show a keen interest in all things Bailey.
