Unmarked police lorry catches motorhome drivers on phone to each other

Two motorhome drivers have been caught by police on the phone to each other while on the motorway.

Officers from Wiltshire Police’s Roads Policing Unit spotted them while in an unmarked police lorry as part of ‘Operation Tramline’.

A police spokesman posted about the incident on the M4 on Friday, August 18, on the Wiltshire Specialist Operations Twitter page.

He said: “Roads Policing Unit using the unmarked lorry again on OpTramline.

“Two times, camper drivers [were] stopped using their phones to communicate to each other on the M4.

“No crockery was harmed in the issuing of papers to these unhappy campers.”

Both drivers will now have six points on their licences.

Wiltshire Police has regularly made use of the undercover HGV to try and catch unsuspecting drivers.
