Person hospitalised following campervan fire on A82 in Inverness

A person has been admitted to hospital after a campervan caught fire on the A82 in Inverness.

Emergency services arrived at the scene near Tomnahurich Cemetery on the city’s Glenurquhart Road after the alarm was raised at 2.51 pm this afternoon (Friday 29 September).

Two fire units and a fire response car were first on the scene.

Firefighters used a hose reel jet and thermal imaging equipment to extinguish the flames, before departing at 3.17 pm.

One casualty, an occupant of the large white van, was taken to Raigmore Hospital by ambulance.

An ambulance service spokeswoman said: “We received a call at 15:27 to attend an incident on Glenurquhart Road, Inverness.

“One ambulance was dispatched to the scene and one patient was transported to Raigmore Hospital.”
