UPDATE: Cause of Marquis Motorhomes fire under investigation

An investigation is underway following a large fire at a Marquis Sussex on Saturday, December 2.

Marquis Sussex will remain closed until further notice.

Those due to collect vehicles or who had booked-in for servicing work have been contacted.

In a statement, Marquis Leisure said: “A large fire broke out at a Marquis Sussex on Saturday, December 2, causing thick smoke to billow from the building and forcing the closure of several local roads.

“The cause of the fire is currently under investigation.”

The blaze erupted at Marquis Leisure, the branch located just off the A22 at Golden Cross, near Hailsham,
at around 2:24 pm.

Eight fire engines were dispatched to the scene, and firefighters battled the flames using three jet hoses and firefighting foam for over eighteen hours, to bring the fire under control.

No injuries have been reported.
