Director of Scottish motorhome dealership defrauded customers of nearly £350,000

A woman has admitted defrauding customers of nearly £350,000 while in charge of a Scottish motorhome company.

Christine Galloway, 68, was charged with fraud in relation to her time as the sole director of Fife-based St Andrews Motorhomes Ltd, The Courier reports.

Between September 2016 and June 2018, Galloway is said to have told various customers that her company would sell their motor vehicle or caravan on their behalf.

They were told that they would each receive payment within 30 days of the sale, with Galloway also telling them to hand over keys and documents relating to the vehicles and caravans.

She is then accused of failing to pay the individual amounts specified to the customers, and in doing so, obtaining 12 motor vehicles worth a total value of £347,450.

Galloway will be sentenced at Dundee Sheriff Court on Tuesday, May 9 at 10am.

In the meantime, the case has been adjourned so that a Criminal Justice Social Work report and a Restriction of Liberty assessment can be obtained.

Galloway placed the company into liquidation in the summer of 2018.

She had initially pleaded not guilty, but then admitted the charge at a later hearing.
