Car crashes into caravan which detached from tow vehicle

A driver has been taken to hospital after crashing into an out-of-control caravan which had detached from its towing vehicle.

The collision in Hollygate Lane, Cotgrave, Nottinghamshire, was reported just after 12:30 BST on Sunday.

Officers attended the scene along with two fire engines and paramedics.

The driver was taken to hospital as a precaution and the road was closed while the scene was made safe.

Police said inquiries into the crash were ongoing.

A spokesperson for Nottinghamshire Police said: “A caravan was involved in a collision with a car after it became detached from the vehicle towing it.

“The incident, which happened in Hollygate Lane, Cotgrave, was reported to police at 12.37pm on Sunday (1 October 2023).

“Police officers attended the scene along with two fire engines and paramedics.

“No-one was trapped. The driver was taken to hospital as a precaution.”

They continued: “Police closed the road temporarily while the scene was made safe and the vehicles were recovered. Inquiries into the incident are ongoing.”
