Calor has confirmed that it is to discontinue five of its smaller canisters from 1 February.
The cylinders being discontinued are Calor’s Cube, 3.9kg Propane, 4.5kg Butane, 6Lite Propane and 12kg Butane cylinders.
In statement, Calor said: “We realise this change will affect customers that rely on these sizes, but we know these changes are necessary to significantly improve our cylinder service.”
“Our existing range of cylinders is creating complexity within our supply chain.
“This means longer change over times and reduced filling capacity on high volume key sizes.
“That’s why we’ve taken the difficult decision to reduce our cylinder range, simplifying the business.”
Calor says there are suitable alternatives to the discontinued cylinder sizes within its range, or within the Campingaz range.
Those looking for a 3.9kg Propane can use a 6kg Propane, and those looking for a 4.5kg Butane can use a 7kg Butane, the supplier says.
Retail Stockists are currently being notified of the changes.
Last year Calor halted sales of its canisters on its own website, citing high demand and supply chain problems.

If only there were more lpg/autogas filling stations more and more people would go down the refillable bottles and tanks routes but these places are decreasing rapidly what we need is some Motorhome service points where you can refill with gas empty toilets waste water and refill with water etc but people have got to pay to make such places viable
Hi there, don’t be thinking about getting a refillable system too quickly …. If you research you will see that more and more garages are banning the refilling of gaslow and similar units. Why is this do we think ? It’s not on the basis of safety as they claim. That’s nonsense. It’s on the basis that they make more from exchange cylinders… which of course you can’t get !
most boats on the Thames use 4.5 butane fitted into perpose build compartments to comply with the boat safety regs so larger bottles will not fit must be 1000s of boats on the Thames I think flo gas do a 4.5 butane just have to change regulator Calor MAY want to have a rethink on this one !!!
Very valid point.
Same for smaller horse boxes and motor homes, space designs and safety means larger ones won’t fit. They haven’t considered these either.
Many canal boats also use 3.9 propane or 4.5 butane bottles as their gas lockers are too shallow forlarger sizes. My boat is one, so I have no idea what I will be able to do to continue usingg gas on board.
never mind boats just think of all the thousands and thousands of small camper vans where the bottle is in a cupboard under the sink, the larger bottles do not fit, I have over 300 customers who use these as well as calor for home heating and all but a handful are so upset they are talking about using another supplier for home heating in protest. my advice to calor is . stop listing to the accountants and listen to your customers
I have an Autosleeper Gatcombe, the compartment will only take a 3.9 and 4.5 kgs bottles, the 6 and 7 are to large, I and thousands are in a bit of a pickle with this, can you not reverse your decision
Please wake up, this is WORLD ECONOMIC FORUM policy. Why would anyone get rid of profit? Please look into this evil, nefarious organisation that has infiltrated many western governments.
Most gas lockers on smaller campervans can only accommodate the small ones!
so my cube fire is no good without a cylinder
A stupid decision by Calor, who have really not thought this through at all. They are likely to lose a LOT of business.
On my boat the flogas 4.5 won’t fit it is taller than the calor bottle and nearly all the boats on the river by me are 4.5 kg
This is not good from calor they will lose lots of money
Flo Gas do a 4.5 bottle. Ah well they'll get ALL the business from thousands of campers, caravans and boats that simply don't have the space is their gas lockers. Very stupid and badly thought out idea by Calor.
