Volkswagen has launched a new bicycle rack for the Grand California as part of its adventure accessory range ahead of summer.
Priced at £655, the bike rack for Volkswagen Grand California can hold up to two cycles to a maximum weight of 35kg, and can be easily fitted to the rear doors to save additional space in the camper.
The smart, sporty design of the rack allows owners to conveniently open the door without the removal of the bicycles.
The new product features removable and lockable support arms enabling owners to load their bikes easily and rim retaining straps with ratchet functionality to conveniently secure bicycle wheels.
Other features include torque limiting knobs, which click when the optimal torque has been reached for maximum safety, and a height-adjustable base frame.
The bicycle rack is the latest addition to Volkswagen Commercial Vehicles’ adventure accessory range, which includes shower kits, camping essentials, and the unique “mobile home in a box”.
NEED TO KNOW: The Grand California is Volkswagen Commercial Vehicles’ flagship model. Based on the Crafter, the Grand California builds on many of the strengths of the original Transporter-based California, with the addition of a wetroom with toilet and shower. Two versions are available: the ‘600’ which features a double bed and optional overcab bed, and the ‘680’. The new Caddy California completes the range, making Volkswagen Commercial Vehicles the only manufacturer with a factory-produced campervan in every market segment.
The shower set includes a 20-litre canister and immersion pump, which can be connected to an onboard electrical output or cigarette lighter socket.
An adjustable shower head can also be attached to the rear windscreen of the opened rear lid of the Grand California.
The camping essentials range features deck chairs with iconic T1 design, picnic blankets, umbrella, barbecue, flask, and sleeping bag.
The newly-launched “mobile home in a box” is available for the Volkswagen Caddy, Caravelle, and California Beach Tour and provides additional storage, sleep space, water supply and kitchen area.
The BusBox, compatible with the Volkswagen Caravelle, includes a bed, mattress, kitchen area (with space for two-burner stove), extendable storage area, and water supply, and is priced at £3,495.
For Caravelle and California Beach Tour owners, the BusBox is available without the mattress for £2,635.
For the Caddy, the KombiBox can be installed within minutes, and offers a bed, kitchen area, water supply and cargo storage for £2,760.
