National Trust opens motorhome site with views of Purbeck

The National Trust is opening a new motorhome site in Purbeck, Dorset.

The pitches the site near Worth Matravers will offer stunning views of the sea between the fields and hills of south Purbeck.

The site sits within the original Weston dairy farm, away from the camping field which opened last year.

The area is also brimming with biodiversity and lovers of wildlife have been told to keep an eye out for the countless species that thrive along this stretch of coast such as bats, owls, and swallows.

But the site will also serve as an ideal staging point for adventures along the Jurassic Coast, the National Trust said, with Chapman’s Pool, Winspit and Dancing Ledge all being within easy distance.

Bookings for the all-year site are now being taken.

Georgia Simpkin, holidays operation manager at the National Trust, said: “Whether it’s cycling, hiking, climbing, or a quiet summer stroll, you can do it all here, while knowing you’ll have a beautiful spot to come home to at the end of the day.”

There are five hardstanding pitches available at the site, each complete with an electric hook-up, which are suitable for motorhomes and camper vans up to 6.5 metres in length.

Dogs and gas-fuelled barbecues are also welcome.

All guests will have free access to all National Trust properties for the duration of their stay.

  • The ONLY downside on the NT story at Purbeck, Dorset, is the Hardstanding pitches are limited to Motorhomes of Maximum 6.5m in length.
Each pitch has EHU, and mh visitors get FREE access to the NT properties.

  • CAMpRA have worked with National Trust to get them to allow overnight stays, this sounds like a step in the right direction but they appear to have ignored all the advice for basic overnight parking with no ehu.
Be interesting to see what the overnight cost is.

  • I was really interested but we have 7 m motor home .So annoying as have been NT member for years . We like the EH U .
