Starting this summer, motorhomes will be prohibited from parking overnight on promenades in Lytham and St Annes.
The new parking regulations, approved by Lancashire County Council’s cabinet, follows years of complaints from residents.
Under the new rules, these vehicles cannot park on promenades from 6:00pm to 8:00am.
Despite concerns raised during the County Hall consultation about potential displacement of motorhomes into town center roads or side streets, highways officers stated there’s no evidence to support such claims.
The ban will cover Ansdell Road South in Lytham and extend along Inner Promenade, South Promenade, and North Promenade, concluding at Todmorden Road in St Annes.
Additionally, King Edward Avenue, Fairlawn Road, and Seafield Road in Lytham will be included
Expected to be enforced by early May, some objections to the plan argued it discriminates against visitors to the area.
However, Fylde Council has increased off-road motorhome parking options in the borough, including at Fairhaven Road car park, with other alternatives under consideration.
