Firm develops new sustainable insulation material for leisure vehicles

Interflex

A new sound and thermal insulation material for the inner and outer walls of caravans, campervans and motorhomes has been developed by Interflex.

Already approved for use at a major manufacturers, Ocean is designed to reduce sound and improve thermal insulation.

The new material, called Ocean, is lightweight, mouldable and made from 100% polyester, 80% of which is comprised of recycled materials – 1kg is the equivalent of 80 recycled plastic water bottles.

Ocean can also be recycled at the end of its life.

Jim Griffin, managing director of Interflex, said: “We are excited to be launching this innovative new product, which has already attracted significant interest from large manufacturers.

“Not only is it a high-performance acoustic absorbent material, but its lightweight properties also make it an ideal product for manufacturers looking to reduce weight in caravans.

“At Interflex our focus is very much on sustainable innovation and this product is the perfect solution for leisure vehicle manufacturers keen to enhance performance and increase comfort while improving their carbon footprint and sustainability credentials.”

The Nottinghamshire-based firm behind the new material is best known for creating noise, vibration and harshness (NVH) parts and sealing solutions for the automotive industry.
