Campers describe terror as fire breaks out at Welsh campsite

Campers have spoke of the terror they experienced after a fire broke out at a Welsh holiday park during the early hours of Saturday morning (3 May), North Wales Live reports.

Flames were seen rising into the sky from a caravan, before spreading to an awning and two cars.

The incident happened at Cim Farm in Abersoch, Gwynedd.

Fire crews arrived at Cim Farm holiday rental site at around 2.10am on Saturday, and firefighters remained in attendance until around 4.30am.

An investigation is now underway to try to establish the cause of the blaze.

An eye witness told North Wales Live: “Due to the quick actions of everybody and the layout of the site, it was thankfully only one unfortunate seasonal pitch that was damaged.”

Another said: “Waking up in the next field to someone screaming for a fire extinguisher, was so scary and sad.”

Another person at the scene said: “I just wanted to say a huge thank you for the professionalism and speed at which the Fire Service responded last night – absolutely superb and big thanks to all, including Police and Ambulance service.

“Very frightening to witness first hand but again thankfully nobody hurt.”

One man was taken to hospital following the fire but did not sustain serious injuries.
