UK stopovers

Bude overnight motorhome parking trial consultation launched

Residents are being asked for their views on proposals to launch a motorhome and campervan parking trial in Bude.

The proposals set out plans to introduce a trial for overnight parking at The Crescent car park.

The stopover will be available to leisure leisure vehicles with onboard toilet, fresh water, greywater and septic waste.

Between 1 April and 31 October the charge is expected to be £20. Out of season, between 1 November and 31 March, it will be £15.

Richard Williams-Pears, Cornwall Council cabinet portfolio holder for transport, said: “We remain committed to putting the infrastructure in place to make it easier for people to choose more sustainable options for how they travel.

“Road transport makes up about 25 per cent of Cornwall’s carbon emissions and so we all need to look at the journeys we make and the impact this has.”

The consultation closes on 21 December 2023.

  • I have a self contained motorhome, I find it difficult to visit most towns and villages in Britain, not only because the “car parks” don’t make provision for such vehicles, also as I’m over 3500kg, even I could find a space I’m not allowed in them at all. It would be good if more towns, villages and cities had park and ride parking with overnight options, many times I have had to “drive on” because I’ve nowhere to park, obviously a loss to local businesses.

  • I think a charge of £10.00 a night is realistic, £20.00 seems a bit too much for a car park. Am right in saying the toilets will be available?
