Barriers to be installed at Anglesey beach to prevent camper access

New access barriers are to be fitted at an Anglesey beach in a bid to tackle “problem campers”.

The metal-framed barrier at Porth Trecastell near Rhosneigr will prevent vehicle over 2.2m in height from entering.

The plan, which as submitted to Anglesey council, have given the application the go-ahead.

Pedestrian gates are to be installed which will provide safe pedestrian and cyclist access form the highway pavement into the car park avoiding areas for motor vehicle access.

Agent Cadnant Planning said: “The access barrier is proposed in order to control the use of the car park, principally to limit prolonged periods of motorhome occupation which has led to complaints of waste pollution from members of the general public.

“The access barrier will also provide some safety element, for temporary food and beverage offer and permanent bicycle parking to the southern part of the car park, and restrict the speeds that vehicles can access, exit and move within the site.”
