Campervan goes up in flames on South Ayrshire road

A campervan went up in flames on a quiet road near Ayr earlier this week.

The incident happened at around 7.30pm on Monday, February 21, when the driver noticed smoke coming from the bonnet whilst driving on the Corton road, off the A77.

The owner parked up on the side of the road before the vehicle burst into flames.

A Scottish Fire and Rescue Service spokesperson said: “We were alerted at 7.36pm on Monday, February 21 to reports of a van on fire near to Mosshill Industrial Estate, Ayr.

“Operations Control mobilised two fire appliances and firefighters extinguished a fire affecting a camper van.

“There were no reported casualties and crews left after ensuring the area was made safe.”
